TradieVerify is founded and operated by Jess Smith, an independent publisher based in Sydney, NSW. The site launched in 2025 after a personal renovation went wrong because the "licensed" builder hired turned out not to be — and the licence check would have taken thirty seconds, if only there had been one place to do it.
We are not affiliated with any government body, trade union, industry association, or tradesperson. TradieVerify takes no fees from listed tradespeople, accepts no paid placements in search results, and earns revenue through display advertising and affiliate links on hiring guides where relevant. Editorial decisions — what to publish, what to verify, what to flag — are made independently of any advertiser.

How we research, verify, and update what you read here.
Data sourcing
Every licence record comes from a public state or territory register. We ingest the registers using their published open data feeds or APIs and store the original source URL alongside every record.
Refresh frequency
Most state registers are re-synced monthly. The original publication date and last-synced date are displayed on every tradesperson profile so you can decide whether the record is current enough for your purposes.
Hiring & cost guides
Every guide on this site is written by hand. We do not auto-generate guide content. Pricing ranges are cross-referenced against industry data and published Australian regulator and trade association sources, which are cited at the foot of each article.
Corrections
If you find an error in a licence record, profile, or guide, email us and we will investigate. Tradespersons who want a profile suppressed (for example, after deregistration or a privacy concern) can request takedown via the same channel.
Advertising disclosure
TradieVerify may display advertising via Google AdSense and may include affiliate links on certain hiring and cost guides. We do not sell placement in search results and advertising never influences which tradies appear on the site or how they are ranked.
Independence
We are not paid by any tradesperson, regulator, or association to feature, omit, or favour any party. Where a sponsored partnership exists, it is disclosed inline at the top of the article.

Current status — active, suspended, cancelled, or expired — plus financial standing where applicable (e.g., QBCC).
Issue date, expiry date, and any conditions or restrictions placed on the licence by the relevant authority.
